Flounder Gigging

Night Time Fish Hunts

Traditionally a winter time technique, chasing Flounder in shallow water, after dark, can be done year round.

We utilize custom underwater lights and specialized boats to patrol for these fish in water ranging from 12 inches to 4 feet deep. Once we arrive to our fishing area, the lights go in the water, and we begin combing the sea floor for these delicious flat-fish. Once a fish is spotted, lurking in wait, the boat slides over to it and, using 4 or 5 pronged stainless steel gig heads mounted on poles 10-14 feet long, dinner is on the menu.

Specialized Flounder Boat

The sea life really comes out at night! Giving you
a unique look at the nocturnal marine environment. Wierd creatures like the Nudibrank, along with small shrimp and crabs move across these flats at night. Redfish and Speckled Trout are regularly seen, usually asleep, nestled in the sea grass. Pompano, Sheepshead and an abundance of other marine life are encountered as well.

These trips offer the average angler an awesome opportunity at really close proximity fishing (often in less than a foot of water). As well as an exciting fishing style that is new, even to many avid fishermen.

Due to the extreme shallow water nature of this fishing, all charters are for a maximum of 2 anglers.
